NYC increases security

In light of yesterday’s horrific bombings at the Boston Marathon, the NYPD has significantly increased their security measures in the city.

Authorities deployed 100 critical response vehicles to Times Square just after the bombings occurred, while also sending more armed officers to top tourist attractions like Ground Zero, the Empire State Building and Radio City Music Hall. The transit system will see increased security as well. Below, a statement from the mayor. I really hope this was an isolated event, and not a warning of things to come! Our prayers are with all victims and their families.

“There’s nothing we know that we think is going to happen, but we have to be prepared,” said Mayor Bloomberg in a statement. “We’ve spent the past 12 years doing everything possible to give the NYPD the tools they need to deter attacks. That includes assigning 1,000 members of the NYPD to investigate and respond to threats.”
