A gay couple has filed a complaint with the American Civil Liberties Union, against a New Mexico bus company, for being mistreated upon riding the bus. Ron McCoy and his partner, Chris Bowers, had flew into Albuquerque on June 28th in hopes to attend a Pride Festival and the cities’ South west Road Trip. The couple experienced inequality upon boarding a shuttle bus leaving the airport. They allegedly hopped on the bus, sat in the front and began to hold hands. The bus driver expressed his ill feelings for their slight form of public affection, soon after.

“I saw him look at us… and he looked so angry,” McCoy told KRQE. “He just blurted out at me, he goes, “Okay, if you’re going to do that, you’re going to the back of the bus.”

The driver acted as though he had sent the two to the back of the bus because he did not want “women and children seeing their “inappropriate” behavior”. The manager of the standard parking system stated that he believes the driver and couple ” got off on the wrong foot” but does admit that ” on an issue like this I think he over-stepped a little bit”.

Although there is a code allowing a bus driver the right to ask customers to move to the back of the bus for Unruly behavior or disturbance, when did holding hands really fall under any of those? What do you think?
