Must be a crazy week for Jon Kitna. Just a few days ago he was enjoying his high school teaching and coaching job in Tacoma, Washington. But when the NFL calls, you go! Kitna has officially been signed by the Cowboys after reports of Tony Romo being out for the rest of the season. Kitna has not played since week 10 of the 2011 season when he was with the Cowboys. That is most likely the main reason they chose to bring him in over other back quarterbacks. He is already familiar with the system and the Cowboys are just not sure if Kyle Orton will perform well if he starts this Sunday in a must win game against the Eagles. Hit the jump.

The Cowboys, and mainly head coach Jason Garrett are still holding onto the slim hopes that somehow Romo can play. He received an epidural injection on Monday, and the hope is it calms the back troubles enough for him to be able to play. It is a very long shot and Romo would be feeling pain most of the game which would affect his performance and his already sketchy decision making. Cowboys fans don’t know what to think right now.
