Wow, this isn’t good.  We don’t have all the details on what happened, but Matt Hardy and his wife were both arrested after getting into an altercation with each other earlier this month.  Report & mug shots after the jump…

Former WWE champion Matt Hardy was arrested at a motel in Virginia earlier this month … after allegedly getting into a fight with his wrestler wife.

Just look at the mug shots of Hardy and 27-year-old Reby Sky — both appear bloody and scratched up.  Hardy has multiple scratch marks all over his face and Sky — real name Rebecca Hardy — appears to be sporting a fat lip, black eye and several small cuts on her face.

Law enforcement tells TMZ Sports … the couple was arrested at the Hampton Inn in Emporia, VA on January 1st around 5:45 AM.   We’re told both Matt and Sky were booked for assault and battery. They were released on $3,500 bail.

Our sources tell us both Matt and Sky got restraining orders against each other.

Matt Hardy’s wife Reby Sky is standing by her husband after a violent incident between the couple at a Virginia hotel … and doesn’t want to end the marriage … sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ Sports.
Now, sources tell us … the whole fight started when Reby asked a seemingly intoxicated Matt if he had been drinking or using other substances that night.

FYI — Matt has had substance abuse issues in the past … and once completed a WWE-sponsored rehab program.

We’re told Matt didn’t take kindly to Reby’s accusation and the situation escalated into a full blown fight.

After the incident, the two talked out their issues and decided they wanted to try to make their relationship work. They’ve made several public appearances together since the arrest … and we’re told they’re both committed to their marriage.
