For the 2014 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk contest they decided to change up the rules including a “Freestyle” and “Battle” round. With the exception of John Wall’s great dunk and maybe a couple others, the contest pretty much fell flat. People wanted the old format back including former Dunk Contest participant, Tracy McGrady.

Though he didn’t win, McGrady was part of the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest which also featured Vince Carter (Vinsanity), Steve Francis and Larry Hughes. The contest is known as the second best of all time only coming second to the Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins in 1988.
