50 had the hip-hop community up-n-arms yesterday, as he announced that he was parting ways with Interscope. Fif who released, “The Funeral” today, spoke with Forbes about his decision to leave the label that saw him through 30+ million album sales. Let’s just say, it’s all about the FREEDOM. “It’s freedom to invest in your own ideas,” Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson says. Caroline/Capitol/UMG and Fif signed a worldwide distribution deal for G-Unit and his own releases. Animal Ambition will be the first of a release, set to drop June 3rd.
“….the leverage of having the strong relationships with Eminem and Dr. Dre. They don’t want to me to be uncomfortable. They value our friendship to the point that they would never want [to jeopardize] it over that little bit of money,” he adds about his departure. The “Can’t Help Myself” rapper can now switch up release tactics, follow his own schedule as far as recording and releasing music goes and just leaves the door of options and opportunity open. Sounds like a great move!
