Oh my! James Brown’s body has been through plenty. After the soulful “Payback” musician died of congestive heart failure in December 2006, his body was on ice for months until he was finally buried. The reason being because his wife and family were battling against each other about whom his estates should go to. This forced the family to ask Brown’s wife, and now widow, Tomi Rae to take a DNA test to assure them that her son was in fact Brown’s son as well. The crooner who currently has a biography film depicting his life, was dismembered so that this DNA test could happen.

Rae is speaking out about the late James Brown’s, “legacy” and more. Hit the jump for the details.

“They couldn’t do the normal DNA test because of all the embalming fluid in his body,” Rae said. “So they had to cut off his legs to get to his bone marrow. I wept uncontrollably when I found out. My husband, the greatest dancer in the world, had his legs hacked off in death.”

“He wanted our home – a 230-acre estate on Beech Island in South Carolina – to be turned into a living memorial, like Graceland,” Rae says. “That’s where he wanted a proper mausoleum.”

Along with the dismemebering of his body, due to family fighting, he had to moved a total of 14 times. Wow. This man can’t even rest.
