A North Carolina couple tragically lost all seven of their septuplets hours after they were born premature. Read more on the story below!
Lindsey and Steve Justice, parents of the Septuplets, refused the advice of the doctors. The doctors gave them the option of considering selective reduction of some of the embryos early during her pregnancy so the remaining embryos could have a better chance of living. At first after having a hard time conceiving, Lindsey took fertility drugs for nine months until she conceived the seven babies. Both her and Steve Justice did not consider the reduction because of their devotion to Christianity.
The doctors tried to tell the couple to selectively reduce. Lindsey stated, “He just said, ‘This is dangerous. The human body is not meant to carry six-plus babies, and for your health and for the babies — their chances of survival, your best medical option is to selectively reduce.’ Steve and I didn’t even have to look at each other. That was just not going to be an option.” Lindsey miscarried one of the children at 12 weeks, and at 21 weeks she gave birth to the remaining six children who only lived for two hours after being born. The Justices are still trying to have more children even after the tragedy.
