Jurors deliberated for five days, coming to a decision as whether or not Jodi Arias will receive life in prison or the death penalty for murdering her lover, Travis Alexander in 2008. The Jodi Arias sentencing verdict is in.

This sentencing phase happens to be a retrial, following a deadlocked jury in October. However, today’s jury in Phoenix had, yet again, failed to reach a verdict in the sentencing phase of the convicted murderer.

Sex, murder and religion. You name it, this case had it. Arias was convicted of first-degree capital murder in 2013 for issuing several – more like 30 – stab wounds, including a slit throat that almost took the victim’s head off. As if those wounds were never enough, Arias also shot Alexander in the forehead.

During the trials earlier stage, the temptress denied murder allegations, but later retracted with a ‘self-defense’ argument. The stunt didn’t work, as the jury found her guilty.

“My personal opinion is that she earned the death penalty,” said Chris Hughes, a friend of Alexander’s. “I would be OK with life in prison, if she never gets out again, but she deserves the life of a death row inmate.” Unfortunately, for Hughes, Arias will skate on the death penalty.
