Recently, the New York Mets have been highly praised after going on a six-game winning streak.

With a successful season blooming, fans have been making their way back to Shea Stadium, but it’s not the on-field show that is making headlines this time.

The Mets have offended members of the LGBT community after featuring players from opposing teams on the big screen with the words “Kiss Cam” stamped in bold. The idea instantly upset fans. Some fans went right to Twitter to express their opposition to the “joke.”

While some are questioning the intentions of the organization, most took the joke lightly, seeing the fact that the players should be playing baseball as the funny part of them being featured on the kiss cam.

The player kiss cam is being taken as a joke against the gay-community, though it could be said that the joke has been taken out of context.

The Mets made an official statement and have decided to remove the players as guest-stars to the Kiss Cam.

“We have, on occasion, included players from opposing teams in our popular in-game kiss cam feature. While intended to be lighthearted, we unintentionally offended some. We apologize for doing so and no longer will include players in the feature. Our organization is wholly supportive of fostering an inclusive and respectful environment at games.”

Since ending their six-game win streak, the Mets will be focusing more on home runs and strike-outs. Let’s leave the kissing to the fans.
