IFWT_Dez Bryant

About a week ago, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant introduced us to his new “best friend”, a capuchin monkey he named Dallas Bryant.  And now it’s no surprise that animal rights groups are speaking out against Bryant having the monkey as a pet.

There’s no confirmation that Bryant is keeping the animal as a pet, but now PETA has also waded into the story. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the organization has asked Desoto, Texas Animal Control to look into Bryant’s “possibly illegal possession” of a monkey.

“Monkeys belong in the wild — not [for] football players who acquire exotic animals just to make a splash on Instagram,” Brittany Peet of PETA said.

If the monkey is well cared for, I don’t see the problem.  Is locking him up in a cage for people to pay money to gawk at him better?
