While people are hitting the streets in protest and rebellion against police brutality, one cop has found the time to make light of the situation by singing a song about killing people, while in uniform!

@GennyontheClock

The cop was in uniform and on duty when he jumped on stage to introduce the rock metal band, Vital Remains.

Andrew Ricks made the mistake of a lifetime and it wasn’t by introducing the band, who’s music generally promotes violence. It was the part where he stayed on the stage to participate in the band’s Let the Killing Begin.

As anyone would at a music performance, one fan recorded the event and posted the video to YouTube. Slowly but surely, the video view numbers jumped and soon enough, caught the attention of Sanford Police Chief, Cecil Smith.

Smith played no games and basically fired Ricks on sight saying,

“An incident of this nature erodes the thin fibers of trust which already exist between the community and the police, and it will not be tolerated within the Sanford Police Department.”

Some video viewers expressed their disagreements with Smith’s decisions, but in all reality, he had very limited options. With the world fighting against police brutality and civilian deaths at the hands of law enforcement, Smith’s clear concern is the relationship that he and his team share positive experiences with the community.

People are always going to criticize the decisions that others make, but in this instance it seems as though the police chief is receiving some pretty unfair feedback from the general public.

Do you think the police chief handled the situation too impulsively? Or should Andrew Ricks have been fired?
