A family’s holiday season went from despair to joy Thursday after it learned that $32,000 in cash that it thought it had lost was returned by a good Samaritan. Erika Gonzalez said that she and her mother realized that they left the wad of cash behind at a local Applebee’s that intended for the bank. The money was left behind Wednesday and returned to it’s owners on Thursday.

The money was left behind by accident while Gonzalez and her mother were running errands. A worker at Applebee’s turned the cash over to Fresno police, who gave the money back to the Gonzalez family Thursday morning after verifying that it belonged to them.

Erika Gonzalez said that her family is once again looking forward to a holiday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and that she is very happy she does not have to tell her father that the money he had given her to put in the bank was gone.

Looks like they got extremely lucky. I’m not sure how many people would return all that money to police. I think that Applebee’s waiter should get a nice tip. Don’t you think so? Comment below and tell us what you think.
