iLoveMemphis has followed the many dance trends such as the “Whip/Nae Nae” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” by which he was listening to when he came up with his own hit single “Hit The Quan.” The track that has sold 587,969 has made its mark on in the top 10 charts for Billboard rap and R&B/Hip-Hop.

“I paid $35 and I didn’t look back,” he said about laying down the single. “I dropped it on Sunday. By Tuesday I knew it was a hit.”

While he’s seen rapid success with the “Hit The Quan” track, iLoveMemphis, real name Richard Colbert, does have his fair share of bad news in his personal life. The 22-year-old is possibly facing charges of non-consensual sexual contact on a woman under the influence of alcohol. He explains that his lawyer is doing all he can to have the “viciously false allegations” dismissed.

“Never would ever do such a thing,” Colbert told The Associated Press in a recent interview. “I love women to death. My mom has eight kids, so I’ve grown up with five sisters, including my mom. So, you know, yeah, that’s the last thing that I would ever, ever, ever get myself into.”

The young artist is waiting on a grand jury’s decision to convict. If found guilty, iLoveMemphis is facing 15 to 60 years in prison.
