Today (February 3rd) we were saddened by the news that hip-hop legend Big Kap, has passed away. At the age of 45, DJ Big Kap is described as “a true legend and pioneer in the hip-hop game.” Currently the cause of death is unknown but he will forever be remembered for helping launch Biggie Smalls’ career in the 1990s. He also released The Tunnel album back in 1999 with our own, Funk Flex.

Key players in the hip hop community including, Funk Flex, Rick Ross, and Peter Rosenberg shared their reactions to the news via social media.

Peter Rosenberg wrote on Instagram,

“Woke up to terrible news today We lost Big Kap …. Not only a great DJ, key part of the flip squad and big dog pit bulls , and incredible talker with a unique and awesome voice but more than anything — great guy” he added, “Sending love and positive vibes to his family, @funkflex , @ciphasounds and all the pit bulls and flip squad.”

Funk Flex and Rick Ross, sent similar condolences on Instagram and Twitter, saying “Rest in peace…. Big Kap”
