Meagan Good and her husband Reverend Devon Franklin spent their Valentine’s Day at a church to talk about their new book “The Wait.” While there, they spoke on celibacy before the two joined in marriage and who hard it truly was. They then allowed the audience to ask questions, and one bold audience member wanted answers but what she really got, was a shut down.
The woman first started off by telling Goode how beautiful she was. Then she recalled a time she was in the grocery store and seeing Meagan on a magazine cover. She said,
“Ima say something to you…This is not offensive but I was at the grocery store and I looked at a news stand and I saw you and you had your breast showing…So I wasn’t gonna come here, I wasn’t, but the Lord brought me here to see you, you’re beautiful. You are a beautiful young woman and your testimony is awesome. The lord let me come to push pass the judgement…because you have to make sure what you say and what you do match up…so you gonna cover up right?”
Reverend Franklin was tryna hear it. He stepped right in and said,
“Wait a minute…no that is not what we’re here for. She’s not gonna cover up, she gon’ wear what she wants to wear in the name of Jesus…amen. Yes she will! God bless you, we love you, I love you dearly but she has been as Christian as she is right now when she wore whatever she wanted to wear, so no we ain’t doing that!”
You go Reverend ! Stick up for your wife! He went on to say,
“Y’all about to see another Devon that y’all ain’t never seen! Remember I’m from Oakland now.”
Meagan started to tear. You can tell that the comment really bothered her. Her man looked at her, told her he loved her and gave her a kiss. Beautiful.
