Police are now investigating a possible hate crime as a man set a Muslim woman’s shirt on fire in NYC.
The woman was not injured, but she did not understand why this even happened to her. The man was quiet as he set the woman’s shirt on fire.
Afaf Nasher, executive director of the New York chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) spoke on the attack saying,
“We are clearly seeing a spike in attacks on individual Muslims and Islamic institutions in New York and around the country, which should be of concern to all Americans.”
