Fat Joe is getting ready to open a sneaker store in New York City next week which will be called “UPNYC” located at 158th and Broadway. Joe, being one of the ultimate sneakerheads around, sat down with Sole Collector yesterday for a Facebook live interview, where they of coursed talked about the store and his love of kicks. During the course of the conversation, Joe dropped a hell of a story about the one time former NBA point guard Mike Bibby choked him out over sneakers in Bibby’s home.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Mike Bibby, besides being a very solid guard in the league for more than a decade most notably with the Sacramento Kings, is also quite possibly the biggest sneakerhead of any other NBA player ever! His collection of PE’s over the years alone will make sneaker lovers envious of what he has, not to mention the entire collection itself.

“Mike Bibby’s my brother, he’s been my brother for 15 years,” Fat Joe says. “Nobody’s got more sneakers than Mike Bibby. That’s a fact. Mike Bibby has a house for sneakers. Fuck a room. A full fuckin’ house. A guest house. It’s just disgusting.”

According to Joe, one time he finally got the opportunity to visit Bibby at his home in Arizona and check out his collection first hand. Unfortunately for him, Bibby would up putting him in a headlock and choking him when he thought Joe was trying to take some of the exclusives for himself.

“Mike Bibby literally yoked me up,” says Fat Joe. “I think he had a drink or two that day, and he don’t really drink like that.”

Joe continues: “He’s been inviting me to his house for 15 years, and I when I go up in there, you know how we do, I’m coming in there with the duffel bag.”

Bibby clearly was not a fan of the duffel bag and even went out to Joe’s car after putting him in the headlock and taking back the bag full of kicks.
