Auto: Say What?? Does the “B” In BMW Stand For Bad?

Dam BMW? It’s like that? I’ve seen recalls for cars before, but rarely ever do you see them from a luxury brand, especially for the amount of cars being recalled. BMW announced today that they need to recall almost 600,000 vehicles!!! That includes the most popular BMW car, the 3 series. The reason? Electrical issues are common recalls for European cars. This one is about faulty battery connectors that can cause the car to stall. Stalling out may not sound like the worst thing, but picture this. Picture you driving a beamer and you go to make a turn at an intersection thinking you have plenty of time to turn before the oncoming traffic gets close. But as you turn your car stalls and that traffic doesn’t stop in time….BOOM!! Yes, exactly! Read more after the jump.

Auto Talk: Three-cylinder BMW 3 Series on its way?

Peter Nefischer, head of engine development for BMW, has said the automaker is currently working on developing three-cylinder engines to be used across the company’s vehicle line. Instead, engineers would turn to forced induction to maintain acceptable power levels. Nefischer said engineers have gone as far as possible with current engine technology, and the next step is smaller, more powerful variants. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo coming next March

In spite of the near-Pavlovian howling that commences anytime the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is mentioned, and in spite of the 5GT falling so short of its sales target that BMW has been forced to consider bringing back the 5 Series Touring, the ungainly hatch has outsold that wagon during its time on our shores. And that was before it got dressed up with an M Sport package. Funk Flex

Car Talk: BMW 3 Series Touring

BMW builds a great wagon. You would be forgiven for forgetting that, what with the recent product lineup featuring the ugly duckling, hunchback-shaped 5 Series GT and physics-defying X6. Over yonder Atlantic pond, the European market gets to play with the 5 Series Touring while we’re left to wait for an updated 3 Series Touring. Looks like our wait is nearly over. Funkmasterflex
