Damian Lillard takes hip hop seriously, very seriously! He doesn’t just rap cause it’s cool to do as an athlete, he spits because he has a real passion for it and you can feel it. Dame is in NYC for the weekend for his All Star appearance, and he stopped by the famous “Sway In The Morning Show” and when he got put on the spot to freestyle, the boy delivered like he was hitting a game winner! Sway repeatedly was left saying “you really are spitting better than these rappers”. High praise from Sway, but as you see in the clip, it was deserved.

#4BarFriday is stepping up big time! For those that do not know, Damian Lillard of the Blazers started 4BarFriday on Instagram by encouraging people to spit 4 bars using the IG video feature. Fans and ballers alike have jumped into it, even Lebron dropped bars not too long ago. Each week Lillard himself picks the winner but now the stakes are higher. He is flying out 8 winners to New Orleans for the All-Star weekend to compete in a live freestyle battle that he is hosting along with Mannie Fresh. No word yet on what the winner will receive but if you ask me all 8 of them are already winning by getting a trip to all-star weekend. Hit the jump.

Lillard a hip-hop head with skills of his own also posts his entry each week and has had some famous friends get in on the action including Lebron James, DeSean Jackson and more. In fact many athletes have tried their hand releasing tracks of their own. Portland Trailblazers guard Damian Lillard started a contest on Instagram called #4BarFriday allowing his fans to submit their bars and then posting the winners. Of course some of his athlete friends got in on the fun and submitted some bars of their own.
