Apparently, 1994 was a great year for Hip Hop! Right on the heals of Nas celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘Illmatic’, the ATlien duo Big Boi and Andre 3000 made their debut known 20 years ago on April 26th, 1994 with the release of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, one of the trillest projects to date in Southern hip hop music. The ATL duo helped dynamically shape the fate of Southern Hip Hop, and its influence on mainstream Hip hop today. The two came along Andre 18, Big Boi 19, and changed the perception of what the rest of the world viewed as status quo for Southern rappers, and what laid the ground work for an iconic career in Hip Hop for the duo.

Big Boi Announces Whether Or Not Outkast Will Be Releasing A New Album
The rumor mill has been spinning with word that hip-hop duo Outkast has a new album in the works. However, Big Boi revealed in a recent interview with Vibe that the rumored project is a no go. “We’re just doing the tour only, just for the fans. I got a solo record I’m working on,” said Big Boi. Although the two emcees will be linking up for a reunion tour consisting of 40 shows, it looks like no new music is coming our way from the group. What a bummer!
Rest In Peace: Father Of Andre 3000 Dies From Heart Attack
Andre 3000’s father, Lawrence Walker, passed away on Wednesday in Atlanta. According to reports, Walker was outside chopping wood up for the fireplace in his home when he suddenly suffered from a fatal heart-attack. Just one year ago, Andre also lost his mother, Sharon Benjamin-Hodo. Our heart goes out to the Outkast emcee and his whole family.
