The pilot flying a Lion Air flight to the Indonesian resort island of Bali, misjudged the runway upon landing causing the plane to land in nearby water. About 101 passengers and seven crew members were onboard the aircraft as it landed in the shallow waters. Police and rescuers were able to save everyone using rescue boats. About 45 people have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of minor injuries and no other serious injuries have been reported. It is still unknown as to whether the plane touched down on the runway and then skidded into the water or the pilot just landed in the water.
