NBA: Yikes Stephon Marbury Goes In on Michael Jordan, Calls Him a Sellout!
Michael Jordan isn’t exactly a favorite amongst the players anymore. Â As an owner of a small market team, the Charlotte Bobcats, Jordan is one of the owners demanding a paycut for players. Â Jordan even went as low as saying the players should only get 37% of the BRI (Basketball Related Income), the players received 57% last season so thats a 20% cut. Â Jordan also wanted to cut the length of contracts and a hard salary cap. Â Since then he’s eased up a bit but he is still a leader in a faction of owners that want the players to get no more than 47% of the BRI. NBA: Union Rejects Latest Offer, Stern Gives Wednesday Ultimatum
Commissioner David Stern gave NBA players an offer and a deadline: Accept a chance to earn up to 51 percent of basketball-related income by Wednesday or get ready for a deal that’s a whole lot worse. NBA: Kobe Bryant & Derek Fisher in Favor of 50/50 BRI Split?
There were earlier reports that a potential agreement was sabotaged by Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.
