Carmelo Anthony made Olympic history when he won his record third gold medal in his record fourth Olympics for U.S men’s basketball.  Unfortunately, his Olympic success has shone a light on his NBA failure, and Anthony’s college coach offered a bleak prediction for the remainder of the veteran’s NBA career.


NCAA: Jim Boeheim & Syracuse Have To Forfeit Wins, Lose Scholarships, Face Probation After Ruling

The long anticipated report from the NCAA on the Syracuse basketball program was released today and it is not good for the orange or coach Jim Boeheim. The committee decided the school must forfeit wins, lose scholarships the next few years, and be on probation. In addition coach Boeheim will be suspended for the first 9 conference games next year. Cuse did get some good news however when they were not banned from post season play except for the ban they gave themselves for this season. This will make recruiting much easier as they don’t have to worry about top high school kids shunning them because of a ban.

Another major figure in sports has written a book which means we have new inside tidbits coming out.  The latest is Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim’s new book “Bleeding Orange” which he wrote with Sports Illustrated’s Jack McCallum.   In the book he notes Carmelo Anthony’s academic struggles during his first semester of college, saying that the star forward’s grades made him ineligible for the Wooden Award during the team’s national championship season in 2003.

When Carmelo Anthony became a free agent he said his main objective when making a choice is his want to win a championship.  It is for that reason that many people thought he would pick the Chicago Bulls.  Instead he chose to remain with the New York Knicks.  The Knicks were able to offer Anthony over $40 million more but Anthony maintains it wasn’t about the money.  He loves New York and believes in Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher.  Anthony’s Syarcuse coach Jim Boeheim says he didn’t make the right decision, from a basketball standpoint.

Last night during Syracuse’s game against Duke there was a very questionable call as referees called a charge on C.J Fair. Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim was livid as he raced down the court trying to pull off his blazer and yell at the referees.  Unfortunately for him, Boeheim was given two technicals and ejected from the game.  Syracuse lost and the Boeheim memes were born.
