Lauryn Hill is safe for now. She went to court today to have a hearing about her tax issues, where she owes $950,000. She was supposed to be sentenced to prison today but luckily she has been able to dodge it for a few weeks. Hill claims that the reason she hasn’t paid Uncle Sam is the same reason her career went down in tubes in the 90’s… threats. She’s asking for forgiveness! 06-07 when she earned a total of more than $1.8 million, she didn’t pay her taxes cause “when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.” Only thing is? She wasn’t specific about WHAT the threats were. Lauryn is pleading for probation, but we’ll find out on April 22nd.
