Although Governor Andrew Cuomo was considering having Medicaid help provide assistance with transgender surgery and therapy. Cuomo had a group of health care professionals figuring out how to work the transgender services into the insurance plan. Now Governor Andrew Cuomo’s health department has dropped the issue. NY Governor Cuomo Considers Medicaid For Transgender Surgery
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is considering extending Medicaid coverage to help cover surgery and therapy for transgenders. A panel of experts is currently advising the governor on how to redo his Medicaid proposal to incorporate transgenders. Health care professionals will examine the proposal and have an answer for the governor by next week. Earlier this year Cuomo assigned a task force to overhaul the Medicaid system and make appropriate budget cuts. Read more after the jump. @Julie1205
