As Nas took over 2 sold out shows at the JFK Center, with the National Symphony Orchestra, for the 20th anniversary of the legendary ‘Illmatic’ album, he brought out all of the classics! After sitting down with Professor Michael Eric Dyson at Georgetown University, he took the stage at the JFK Center for the Performing Arts and performed two sold out shows. Nas performed the entire Illmatic album with a 40 member orchestra and DJ Green Lantern. Check out footage of him performing the classic ‘The World Is Yours’ from the event.

Hip Hop veteran Nas and Georgetown Sociology Professor Micheal Eric Dyson, took to the Lehigh University, alongside James Peterson, director of Africana studies, to discuss the current state of hip hop. The trio sat in front of a packed crowd, as 9th Wonder hosted, and spoke on a series of topics: from the latest increase of combining academics and hip hop, to its overall evolution. Nas stated on the issue of balancing conscious messages without coming off as a lecturer by saying “I Don’t See Enough Emcees Who Are Brave Enough To Be Honest”.
