NBA: League ‘Very Interested’ In Pushing Draft Back to July & Adding Season-Ending Awards Show

The busiest part of the NBA season isn’t opening night, Christmas Day, or the playoffs. It’s from the time the Finals begin in late June through the Draft, free agency and then summer league in both Orlando and Las Vegas that all doesn’t conclude until the end of July.  It’s a non-stop assault of league-wide news that at times seems like too much all at once, with not enough time in between to truly maximize the value or the coverage that the various events can generate by themselves.  For this reason and some others which are equally valid, the league is reportedly considering making some changes to its busy summertime schedule.

NBA and NFL hopefuls usually hit up jewelry stores, often Rafaello & Co. in NYC to get blinged out for Draft Day.  It’s the day that changes their lives forever and they want to make sure they look good.  First round draft pick Rodney Hood went and picked up some special pieces.

(Video) NBA: Cavs Select Andrew Wiggins With First Pick Of NBA Draft, Gets Welcomed By Johnny Manziel

One of the most anticipated drafts in recent years definitely did not let us down last night at the Barcalys Center in Brooklyn. The first round was loaded with talent as the Cavs finally made the decision to take Andrew Wiggins #1 overall to set things off. Jabari Parker of Duke was selected by the Bucks with the second pick and the 76ers took Wiggins college teammate Joel Embiid, even with the injury questions surrounding him. Cleveland is hoping Wiggins can be somewhat of a second coming of Lebron in the city. They have had the top overall pick three times in the past four years and haven’t been able to translate that into any success. On a brighter note, Cleveland Browns rookie Johnny Manziel seemed excited to have another young star in the city and showed love from his twitter account. Hit the jump.

Rookies don’t have a choice what team they go to as they’re selected in the NBA Draft but there are things they can do to avoid certain teams, like ignore them.

NBA: A List of 2014 NBA Draft Green Room Invites

The NBA Draft green room is usually reserved for the sure fire lottery picks.  This year with the new venue (Barclays Center) and the uncertainty of the loaded draft, there are more players invited than usual.  Here’s the list of confirmed invites.

(Photos) NBA: Why Are NBA Teams Asking Potential Players About Justin Bieber?

Potential NBA draft picks that are soon to be rookies in the league get asked some pretty interesting questions during the pre-draft interview process. Some questions are obviously related to basketball itself but some other questions are made to see where a players head is at. Before teams throw millions of dollars at a young man they want to get a feel for how their mindset works and try to analyze them to see if a particular player is a right fight. Turns out the topic of some of the questions is none other than Justin Bieber. Players are being asked if going on tour with the Biebs could be better than winning rookie of the year. It would not shock me if a couple guys gave the wrong answer. Hit the jump.
