The family of 94-year-old Nelson Mandela has been advised by his doctors to take him off life support. According to court documents that were released yesterday, Mandela faces “impending death,” and is only able to breathe via machine. Qunu, which is Mandela’s hometown and will be his final resting place. The remains of Mandela’s three deceased children have been moved to Qunu as well. The former president has been battling a lung infection since June 8th. More about the court documents and what the family was told below.

Obama’s currently on his African tour, and the President made sure he paid his respects to Nelson Mandela’s family as Mandela is in critical condition after a series of illnesses. Today, Obama chose to visit the prison where Nelson was jailed, paying respects and physically viewing a prison that represented racism and apartheid in South Africa, and to show this to his two daughters and wife. Nelson Mandela’s Health Takes A Turn For The Worse, He’s Now Unresponsive
Nelson Mandela was rushed to the hospital last week and now his condition has taken a turn for the worse. The 94-year-old is currently attempting to fight off a lung infection and is now unresponsive. The former leader’s kidney and liver are only functioning on about 50% and he has not opened his eyes in a few days. Reps for Mandela and his family are still reporting that he is in stable but serious condition despite the fact that he has undergone two procedures. It is also being reported that Mandela’s ambulance broke down leaving him on the side of the road for 40 minutes which may have made his condition worse. Read more below.
Get Better: Nelson Mandela Rushed To Hospital With Lung Infection!!!
The former South African President was rushed to a hospital in Johannesburg and is listed as serious but stable condition. This news has brought great concern around the world from Mandela admirers. Mandela who is 94 years old has been back and forth to the hospital and his last visit to the hospital was back in April where the doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia. In an ambitious show of solidarity with Nelson Mandela and as a stunt to raise money for a fundraiser, a South African man has traveled from Nelson Mandela’s prison to where Mandela was recently hospitalized. Via party balloons. He used 160 helium balloons to travel 3.7 miles over an hour. Check out the pics in the gallery.
