(Video) NBA: Magic Rookie Elfrid Payton Airballs Two Free Throws in a Row

Orlando Magic rookie Elfrid Payton has a lot going for him. He’s fearless, he’s quick, he’s a relentless defender, he can get to the basket, he can find open looks for his teammates. The Magic should be happy to have him.  His shot, though, needs some work. Payton is shooting 38 percent from the field this season.  Less impressive, he is shooting 49 percent from the free throw line. Fifteen feet away and unguarded, he still hits less than half his shots.  It was worse than that Monday night in Los Angeles, where Elfrid Payton airballs two free throws back-to-back. That’s Shaq/Dwight Howard like. It’s a little disturbing for a point guard to be doing that.
