NBA: 76ers’ Nerlens Noel Out Through December

The Philadelphia 76ers surprised everyone when they traded away their All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday in order to acquire rookie center Nerlens Noel.  The standout big man suffered a torn ACL during his single season at Kentucky and it was well known that he would be out for quite some time.  Though he is working out and attempting his return, he likely won’t see the court before December  Read more after the jump.


NBA: Coach Brett Brown Assures Evan Turner The Sixers Won’t Try to Lose on Purpose

The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to take quite a tumble and be on the bottom of the league standings next year.  The team that once showed such promise and defeated the Bulls (albeit without Derrick Rose), has since been gutted (Iguodala gone, Jrue Holiday gone, Bynum a no show & now gone) and now they have a brand new head coach with no head coaching experience.  It would seem like they’re in tank mode with the Boston Celtics but coach Brett Brown assures Evan Turner that isn’t the case.  Read more after the jump.

NBA: Brett Brown Urged to Not Take the 76ers’ Head Coaching Job

Many teams were looking to fill their head coach position and with plenty of qualified candidates available many of those jobs were filled quickly, except for the Philadelphia 76ers.  The team oddly took it’s time interviewing several candidates before finally offering the job to San Antonio Spurs assistant Brett Brown but the word around the league is that he’s being urged not to take the job.  Read more after the jump.

NBA: Royce White Says ‘Hell No’ to Making 100 Flights in a Season

Royce White’s anxiety problems have been well documented and publicized.  The young NBA player has made it an objective of his to spread mental health awareness as he battles with his professional career.  He and the Houston Rockets could never come to an agreement in terms of his care and after playing several games with their D-League affiliate the Rio Grande Vipers, the Rockets traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers.  As I stated before his issues are no secret so the Sixers knew what they were getting, the question is how will they handle it.  Read more after the jump.
