If the government doesn’t do something about the looming fiscal cliff, about two million people could lose their unemployment benefits just four days after Christmas. Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed is pushing to allow for another extension to avoid tax increases and spending cuts in January. Reed has been joined by others as President Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner continue to disagree with each other in regards to the deficit deal. Not only are 2.1 million facing losing their benefits on December 29th, but another million people could be losing their benefits in about three months if something is not done and soon.
