Drake’s song “Dreams Money Can Buy” dropped this morning and a certain lyric in the song had a lot of people wondering if Drizzy took a shot at Jay-Z. Drizzy took to his twitter page earlier to set the record straight. Hit the jump to find out what the lyric is and what Drake said. Let us know what you think, do you believe Drake’s tweet?
@Julie1205
In “Dreams Money Can Buy” Drake says “my favorite rappers either lost it or they ain’t alive.” Immediately people were buzzing about him taking a shot a Jay-Z especially after his line in “I’m On One” that mentions him taking the throne (“Watch The Throne” is the title of Jay-Z and Kanye’s album). We all know Drake is a Hov fan from when he said “I never cried when Pac died, but I probably will when Hov does.” Earlier Drake tweeted this to address the rumors:
Either way he’s taking a shot…
1st.. if he’s saying he lost it that’s directly taking a shot.
2nd.. if he’s NOT considered one of his favorite rappers – and some point he was but just isn’t anymore – then that’s STILL taking a shot.
I agree with mike
shut the fuck up with the shots bullshit. like stop looking into tracks. drake doesnt do subliminal disses, hes not taking shots, watch the throne, hes stated speciafically watch him take it.
always looking into shit. offcorse he meant that line very broadly so it not directed at jay-z, its generalization so quit the shit.
‘Another reference to the fleeting nature of popularity and success in the music business. And now he sometimes feels like he’s surviving as much as he is prospering.’ this is what it really is.
