This summer Verizon plans on dropping its unlimited data options from it’s data plans and changing its structure by using an tiered data pricing scheme. According to Verizon they plan on offering data services supporting multiple devices including smartphones and tablet computers, according to a top executive of parent company Verizon Communications.

What does this mean for Verizon smartphone owners out there,  you will no longer have a flat fee each month that allows unlimted web access.  The tier pricing will force heavy net users to shell out more money out their pocket to Verizon.  The upside (if theres any) Verizon will allow more options such as family plans for data services, according to Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo.  This could be a good idea, sharing the same data plan if you have several devices with Verizon.  Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo says “I think it’s safe to assume that at some point you are going to have mega-plans (for data) and people are going to share that mega-plan based on the number of devices within their family. That’s just a logical progression,” he said, but did not provide a time frame for such mega-plans.”
