At least five people were killed and one was wounded Thursday in a series of shootings in southwest Arizona that forced officials to lock down a courthouse and area schools.

The shootings happened Thursday morning in Yuma County.

Yuma police Sgt. Clint Norred told the Yuma Sun that the shootings were connected and are under investigation. It’s unclear whether there’s been an arrest or what the motive was.

Four of the fatal shootings happened in the county and one happened in the city of Yuma, Norred said.

Officers responded to the first call at about 9:30 a.m. The Yuma County Courthouse and area schools were placed on lockdown, the Sun reported.

Police haven’t confirmed the identity of the victims or the shooter.
