Cook County police began tracking Brandon J. Bergthold about two months ago after noticing a post from someone seeking “fathers willing to share their daughters,” The Chicago Sun-Times reported.
A detective posing as a father willing to pimp out his 6-year-old daughter contacted the 25-year-old after spotting the post on Nov. 30.
Last weekend, cops said, Bergthold got antsy and pushed for a meeting with the undercover cop and his fictitious daughter, signaling to police that the creep could seek out another victim if they didn’t act fast.
Bergthold was busted at a seedy motel in New Lenox Township on Thursday, the Sun-Times said.
After he was cuffed, he thanked police for busting him and admitted he was addicted to child porn, the newspaper reported.
He was charged with indecent solicitation and traveling to meet a minor and being held at Will County Jail on $750,000 bail.
Cops raided his Frankfort Square apartment on Friday and were searching his computer and other electronic devices for evidence of child porn, authorities said.
