Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin has gotten a ton of new nicknames from Lin-sanity to LINing and much more.  He’s also been called the “Yellow Mamba” a play on Kobe’s nickname the “Black Mamba”.  The sign however is considered racist to some people and put ESPN in hot water.  Read more after the jump.

You may wonder what’s wrong with calling Lin the “Yellow Mamba” when Kobe is called the “Black Mamba” but the black mamba is an actual snake.  There’s no such thing as a yellow mamba so some people may take offense to the yellow Asian reference.  FOX reporter Jason Whitlock already came under heavy fire for his Asian joke so ESPN may find a little heat applied to them as well.  I’m sure no offense was meant and I have Asian friends who use the reference as well but I guess everyone’s feelings have to be considered.
