Free agent receiver Plaxico Burress isn’t known to have visited any teams since the signing period commenced six days ago. He will be 35 before the start of the upcoming season, and has limited NFL value as a red-zone specialist who doesn’t do a whole lot between the twenties.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports, however, that Burress has been “in contact” with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles showed light interest in Plax last offseason, before he signed with the Jets.

The wide receiver market has been picked apart by first-week signings. The best wideouts left include Burress, Braylon Edwards, Early Doucet, Ted Ginn,Jerricho Cotchery, and Lee Evans.

We’ve officially entered phase two of the free agency period, so look for players like Burress and Edwards to begin generating increased interest.
