Loretta Robinson’s son, Justin Walker, died in Greenville last June when a drunk driver slammed into his car, local television station WYFF reported.

Robinson achieved some closure last Tuesday when the driver, Anna Gonzalez, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 17 years in prison for the fatal wreck.

But the heartbroken mom told the judge she’s been overwhelmed by bills that have piled up from the accident, including a $50 charge to wash her dead son’s blood off the road.

“I had to pay to have the vehicle towed,” she told the station. “I had to pay for the vehicle removed and to clean up the street from Justin’s blood on the ground.”

Robinson said she’s been too devastated to work.

The state’s victim assistance fund covered Walker’s medical and funeral and expenses, but Robinson said she’s become overwhelmed by the accident’s financial toll.

“First of all, having to open the mail and look at the charge to the deceased, Justin Darryl Walker …It’s just a hard thing to deal with in the context of your child,” she told the station.

She said she didn’t expect to get any money from Gonzalez, an illegal immigrant who didn’t have a South Carolina driver’s license.

“We have to be able, as a country, to figure out a way with people here who are illegal and commit crimes,” she said.
