HTC announced yesterday they will be hosting their own event on September 19th.   The only problem with that is will anyone care.  Apple is hosting their iPhone event on the 12th. All the hoopla will be centered around Apple.  Maybe there will be enough fan fair to go around  for HTC sake

As for what’s in store, HTC isn’t saying, but the timing offers some clues. Nokia and Microsoft will be hosting an event on Wednesday, September 5 to unveil some of the first Windows Phone 8 smartphones (Samsung already showed off the first one last week, the ATIV S). HTC is one of Microsoft’s Windows Phone partners, but hasn’t released a major new device for the platform since the Titan II in the spring.

This fall marks a major milestone for Microsoft’s mobile platform. With Windows Phone 8, the operating system has been changed to be compatible with Windows 8 itself, allowing developers to easily make apps that work on both phones and PCs. The new OS also supports more hardware, including dual-core devices and HD-resolution screens.

It’s less likely Android phones will be in store for this event since HTC has already had a couple of major unveilings this year with its One and EVO phones. However, since those releases Google has unveiled Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean,” so it’s possible HTC is planning a Jelly Bean device, or at least updates for current phones.
