All eyes were on Halle Berry as she walked the red carpet for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her new film “Cloud Atlas.” The 46-year-old Oscar-winner stunned in a figure-hugging purple Roberto Cavalli suit and a completely sheer top with a black lace bra underneath.

The film, directed by the Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer, is a sprawling epic melding together multiple storylines across different countries and eras. Berry and costars Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, and Hugo Weaving each play multiple characters — sometimes of different races and even genders — in the separate stories that span many centuries. Berry’s numerous roles include an investigative reporter in the ’70s, a Caucasian woman in the Victorian era, and an explorer in the far-off future.

The film reportedly received a standing ovation after its Toronto debut, but there have been some sharply divided critical responses. HitFix.com called it, “a unique and beautiful work of film art that dares to dream big,” while The Hollywood Reporter described it as “impressively mounted, [but] emotionally stilted.” “Cloud Atlas” will be released on October 26.
