Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins could miss all of training camp and the preseason as he recovers from wrist surgery. Perkins underwent the procedure on July 19 to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti hopes to have Perkins back on the roster by the team’s opening game on Nov. 1, according to Darnell Mayberry of NewsOK:

“What we’re trying to do is have him ready for the first game, or the beginning of the regular season. His conditioning, his fitness and his levels, he’s done a fantastic job. His wrist is a thing that we have to be very cautious with and we will be.”

The Thunder will enter training camp with three other centers on roster, including Cole Aldrich, Hasheem Thabeet and Daniel Orton. While Aldrich is projected to be Perkins’ backup, none of the three centers have proven themselves at the NBA level.
