The Green Bay Packers have finally grown weary of Jermichael Finley and have decided to part ways with the embattled tight end.  Read more after the jump.

Finley has done a lot of talking publicly about his lack of opportunities on the field, saying he is the fourth option for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  He even went on twitter and said Rodgers wasn’t a great leader.

Even when given opportunities on the field Finley has been a shell of his former self.  From his dropped passes, poor blocking and horrible attitude it’s just time for him to go.

The Packers can either trade or cut him.  A $3 million roster bonus comes due on the 15th day of the new league year, which begins in March.  Since trades can’t happen until the first day of the new league year, the Packers will have a two-week window for finding a trade partner.  Trading him will be difficult since he has one year and $7 million remaining on his contract, not to mention the bad press following him.  It’s reported that whichever team trades for him will most likely sign him to a long term contract.

If they can’t find a trade partner then they will release him after signing a two year $12 million contract.  Cutting Finley would be virtually painless for the team’s salary cap. He also is due no guaranteed money.

“He’s that type of athlete that will fool people,” one scout told McGinn when asked about his trade or free agent value. “Unless you really, really dig and do your homework, and just look superficially, you’ll say all he needs is just a change of scenery.”
