President Obama was sworn in today around 12 in a private ceremony. Vice President Joe Biden was already sworn in by Justice Sonia Sotomayor at his home surrounded by his family. President Obama had a small amount of family with him, including First Lady Michelle, and the first daughters. This was only the third time a President has been sworn in on a Sunday since the inauguration date was changed back in 1937. Only Eisenhower and Reagan have been sworn in on a Sunday. The Constitution states that a President must be sworn in on January 20 at 12pm. After his 1821 swear-in, President James Monroe declared that after a Sunday swear-in a Monday celebration should be held. Chief Justice John Roberts swore in President Obama on a Bible that belonged to First Lady Michelle Obama’s grandmother, LaVaughn Delores Robinson, which was held by Michelle. Tomorrow President Obama will be using  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “travel Bible” to take oath on. Watch President Obama take his oath as President for his second term below.
