Ashanti is back in the limelight for the first time in a while, gearing up to drop her new album Braveheart in June (her first since 2008), and currently starring in a recurring role on the Lifetime series, Army Wives. During an interview with The Grio (where she talks acting and music and blah, blah, blah), the singer/actress revealed she’s been in touch with the currently-incarcerated Ja Rule quite frequently, and there may even be a possibility of another one of their smash hits! (“Mesmerized” is still my ish!) Find out what she said below.
“I think Ja Rule is super duper talented. When I got into the studio with him…and just his melodies, his lyrics, and how he puts a record together and how he can make it catchy,” she said in the interview. “So many people have… I don’t want to say copied… but Ja has a swag that a lot of people came in after him doing. So I definitely think that Ja has what it takes to make a hit record.”
When asked if she has plans to collaborate with Ja Rule after he is released: “we probably will.”
These two have MORE than a few hits under their belt together so I have no doubt they can do it again! I’m hoping this works out!
