A man who pretended he had a gun and robbed four banks tried to make an escape by running through the Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey after crashing car. He held up four Midtown banks in a span of an hour. Police were already on a chase when the man crashed his vehicle near the entrance of the tunnel. The man, who was not identified, was given a bundle a dye pack that exploded once he left the bank sensor causing him to speed away. Read more below.
The man began his robbing spree at the Bank of America on Broadway near W. 34th St. before heading to a Capitol One on Broadway and W. 56th St. in a red hoodie. Once the dye pack exploded, he ripped off the hoodie and attempted to flee. Charges are still pending against the man.
