Meek Mill

In honor of the holiday season, MMG rapper Meek Mill decided to give back to his hometown of Philadelphia for the first annual “A Dreamchaser’s Thanksgiving.” Free turkeys will be given away during the event with hopes of feeding approximately 600 families in the Philly area.

The drive will take place on November 26th at the Martin Luther King Jr. Adult Center and the Hank Gathers Recreation Center from 5PM to 7PM and 6PM to 8PM. On November 27th, the Vare Recreation Center will be hosting day #2 from 4PM to 6PM right before Thursday’s festivities that are meant to be spent with family and a home-cooked meal.

“Philly raised me and made me into the man I am today, so to do the first annual ‘A Dreamchaser’s Thanksgiving,’ was an obvious thing to do,” explains Meek on his tough upbringing in his native city. He continued on to say, “I’m blessed to be in a position where I can make sure that as many people as possible have a meal on Thanksgiving, so that they can be with their loved ones to enjoy the holiday.”

However, such an event would not have went down without the help from the mayor. The DC3 artist says, “This could not have been possible without the support of the Mayor and his amazing staff, as well as all of the other sponsors who are donating their time, money and turkeys. I’ve been all over the world but Philly is my home, and to be able to now give back is an amazing feeling.”

I’m a huge Meek fan as is, but the fact that he’s constantly giving back to his city makes me respect him 100x more. A lot of artists get on and forget about where they came from once the checks start coming in, but Meek Mill proved to be the realest as they come. Much respect!
