curly-hair

All throughout high school, I would straighten my hair each week. Constantly having my mom blow-dry my hair every Sunday, because to me, pretty meant straight hair.

Then, once I got my first job at 17, it was a wrap! I became a slave to my hair. I was at the hairdresser every Sunday morning like clockwork; wash, roller set, sit under the dryer for an hour, and then get it blow-dried. I did this every week for 7 years straight, not including high school.

It wasn’t until I moved out of my parents house at 24 (I’m 26 now), that straightening my hair each week was expensive, and I wouldn’t be able to afford that luxury anymore. Ya’ll know the deal; rent, bills, food… need I say more?

So I decided to embrace my natural hair and become a curly girl. Thanks to Instagram and Youtube, I’ve learned a lot about natural hair, and is still learning.

So for all you curly girls, natural girls, and transitioning girls, I’ve found 11 gentle shampoos for your hairtype via NaturallyCurly.com and Sophie Brame.
