Brian Banks story captured everyone’s hearts when he was released from jail after serving five years for a rape he did not commit.  The high school football star had already  committed to USC when his dreams were ruined.  He was released after his accuser admitted she made the whole thing up.  Following the outpour of love Banks received, he also got a shot with the Atlanta Falcons but was later cut.  Now he’s got an even bigger opportunity, the chance to bring his story to the big screen with an amazing director.

According to TMZ Sports Banks signed a deal back in January to turn his ordeal into a movie with Amy Baer producing.  Now the movie about Banks’ incredible life story just got a huge boost.  Lee Daniels has signed on to direct the project.  The Oscar nominated director for the film “Precious” is also known for directing “The Butler” and producing “Monster’s Ball”.

There’s no word yet on when the film will begin shooting or a projected release date.
