A graphic video made it’s rounds overnight of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart hitting and killing fellow driver, Kevin Ward Jr.  After an on-track accident including Stewart, Ward got out of his car while the race was still going on.  Ward appeared angry and walked towards Stewart’s car and continued yelling as Stewart was driving past but he ended up hitting Ward and sent him flying down the track.  Ward was later pronounced dead at the hospital.  Stewart is scheduled to race today and many weren’t sure if he would compete.

Tony Stewart will race as scheduled at Watkins Glen.

“We’re business as usual today,” Greg Zipadelli, Stewart-Haas Racing competition director, told USA TODAY Sports.

“Everything that’s been made available to us at this time would not preclude (Stewart) from participating in this event here today,” NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said.

He said NASCAR has been monitoring the situation and will “honor the process and respect the timeline of the local authorities.”

The accident is still under investigation.

UPDATE

Tony Stewart WILL NOT race Sunday at Watkins Glen International.

Just a few hours after telling USA TODAY Sports that Sunday would be ”business as usual,” and Tony Stewart would race at Watkins Glen International as scheduled, the team has reversed course.
